It’s that time of year again where everyone is feeling pressured to get the flu shot and any other shot they can push on you for what they call, “preventative care.”

Which is why I wanted to share my own experience with you and what I went through first hand…

Last October, I did something I swore I’d never do.

Yep, I did it… I got a flu shot.

And not just that — I got the TDAP vaccine too.

Now, before you think I walked into that office with a smile and rolled-up sleeves, let me be clear: It was definitely, NOT willingly. I went in kicking and screaming! (figuratively, but close).

The only reason I did it? My daughter.

She was pregnant with twins at the time, and her doctor told her anyone who wanted to be around the babies needed both shots. Otherwise, no visits for six months.

Six months! Can you imagine me not seeing my grandbabies? Not being there for my daughter when she needed me most? I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. 😒

So I caved. Against every cell in my body saying don’t do this. It was a tough decision to make but I did it.

And guess what?

I paid for it.

Within weeks, I started getting sick. Every two weeks, like clockwork. For six straight months.

Me — the person who eats clean, lives a nutrient rich healing lifestyle, and rarely ever gets sick — suddenly catching every bug around me.

All while I was supposed to be at my strongest to help my daughter.

I looked up how long it takes for the flu shot to get out of the system and from what I read, it takes 6 months. Exactly when I finally stopped getting sick. Crazy stuff…

I’m not here to tell you what to do, but to share my experiences and shed light on what you may not be aware of.

One thing is for sure…

I will never recommend the flu shot. Ever. What was supposed to “protect” me, temporarily threw my immune system off.

It wasn’t until the shot wore off that my body finally reset and I felt like me again.

Why am I sharing this?

Because flu season is around the corner, and chances are you’re going to be pressured — maybe even guilted — into doing the same.
