🌱 How to Naturally Calm Your Allergies Down
When allergy season hits, it can feel like your body is in a constant battle with the world outside. The sneezing, congestion, watery eyes, and scratchy throat are your body’s natural response to allergens like pollen, dust, and mold.
But instead of masking symptoms with medication or OTC meds, below are effective ways to naturally calm them down and get some relief. It’s just a matter of finding what works best for you.
Eat an Anti-Inflammatory, Plant-Based Diet 🌱
Your diet plays a major role in how your body responds to allergens. A high-raw, plant-based diet filled with hydrating fruits and vegetables can help reduce inflammation, calm your immune system, and clear up mucus.
Focus on:
Dark leafy greens (like kale, spinach, arugula)
Citrus fruits (rich in vitamin C, a natural antihistamine)
Berries (packed with quercetin and antioxidants)
Pineapple (contains bromelain, an anti-inflammatory enzyme)
Turmeric and ginger (reduce inflammation and support respiratory health)
True Story!
For years I struggled with allergies to the point where I was bed ridden and couldn’t go into work. Between the non-stop sneezing, the runny nose, and the itchy throat - it made it very hard to focus. It was horrible. I thought that I would be ‘cursed’ with miserable allergies for the rest of my life. And when I say, “miserable,” I mean MISERABLE! 😩
It wasn’t up until I transitioned to a raw, vegan, plant-based lifestyle that I was able to kick the misery. So I can tell you from experience, this is one thing you can definitely get rid of on a predominantly raw, vegan, plant-based diet.
If you’d like to learn more and challenge yourself to eating raw, I encourage you to check out my 14-Day Go Raw & Thrive Challenge. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! 💚
Stay Hydrated 💦
Hydrate! More water = less mucus buildup. Even better if you eat your water! Water helps thin mucus and flush out toxins, making it easier for your body to eliminate allergens. Herbal teas like nettle, peppermint, and licorice root are also excellent choices to calm inflammation and soothe irritated airways.
Rinse Your Sinuses 🌬️
Use a neti pot or saline spray daily to flush pollen, dust, and other allergens from your nasal passages before they cause irritation. This simple ritual can dramatically reduce congestion and prevent allergens from taking hold.
Try Natural Antihistamines 🌸
Certain natural compounds can help balance your histamine response without the side effects of synthetic drugs:
Quercetin (found in apples, onions, berries, and leafy greens)
Stinging Nettle (try it as a tea or tincture)
Vitamin C (helps reduce histamine production)
Bromelain (from pineapple, aids in breaking down mucus)
Incorporate Sea Moss 🌿
Sea moss is packed with 92+ minerals and is known to reduce inflammation, clear mucus, and support the immune system—all of which help calm down allergy flare-ups.
Reduce Stress🧘🏻♀️
Stress can weaken your immune system and worsen allergy symptoms. Take time each day to:
Meditate
Practice gentle yoga or breathwork
Spend time in nature (away from peak pollen hours)
Journal or take a relaxing bath with essential oils
Spirulina 🌊
This vibrant blue-green algae is also a natural antihistamine and immune booster. Spirulina has been shown to significantly improve symptoms like nasal discharge, sneezing, and congestion by calming allergic reactions and reducing inflammation. Add it to smoothies or take it in powder or capsule form for daily support.
I recommend raw living spirulina. It’s odorless and you can’t even taste it making it a lot easier to take. You can even mix it in with coconut water. If not fresh from the coconut, Harmless Harvest is the next best thing.

💧Diffuse Allergy-Fighting Essential Oils for Allergy Relief
🌬 Frankincense Oil - Frankincense is deeply anti-inflammatory and helps open up the respiratory system. Use it in a diffuser, or rub a few drops diluted with a carrier oil on your chest or under your nose.
🌿 Eucalyptus Oil - Known for its cooling, decongestant properties, eucalyptus helps open nasal passages and relieve sinus pressure. Add to a steam bowl or diffuser, or put a few drops on your shower floor for an invigorating, allergy-soothing experience.
I recommend Plant Therapy for their sustainability, ethically sourced, affordable pricing, nutrient rich, high quality oils.

🌼 Tips to Reduce Allergen Exposure
Keep your windows closed on high-pollen hours/days.
Rinse off or shower after spending time outside.
Use an air purifier with a HEPA filter in your bedroom.
Clean floors frequently.
Wash bedding weekly in hot water.
Use natural cleaning products, like Branch Basics to avoid chemical irritants - You can also find them on Amazon along with other good non-toxic, vegan-friendly, cruelty-free options.

💚 Support Your Immune System from Within
The best way to combat allergies is to build a body that’s strong, resilient, and less reactive to allergens in the first place. Your immune system is your frontline defense, and what you eat every day has a massive impact on how well it performs.
Focusing on anti-inflammatory, nutrient-dense, whole, plant-based foods gives your body the tools it needs to keep inflammation down and energy up—naturally.
Here are some of the most powerful plant-based allies to support your immune system and ease allergy symptoms:
🥬 Leafy Greens (kale, spinach, arugula, collards)
Dark leafy greens are loaded with antioxidants, fiber, and essential vitamins like C, A, and K. They help lower inflammation, support detox pathways in the liver, and give your immune system a natural boost. Add them to salads, green juices, smoothies, or lightly sauté with garlic and just a small amount of avocado oil.
🍓Berries (especially blueberries and strawberries)
Berries are antioxidant powerhouses, particularly high in quercetin and vitamin C—two compounds that are incredibly effective at reducing allergy symptoms. They also help repair cell damage caused by inflammation and oxidative stress. Snack on them fresh, blend into smoothies, or toss onto your breakfast bowl.
Raw Vegan Breakfast Bowl Recipe 🌱
1-2 sliced bananas
1 cup of berries
1 cup of sliced strawberries
1 apple (cut into pieces)
4 medjool dates (pitted and pieced up)
¼ cup mulberries
¼ cup raisins (optional)
¼ cup unsweetened coconut shreds (optional)
1 cup of your favorite plant milk - Three Trees or Malk are my recommended brands if you’re not making it yourself.
½ cup granola - This one from One Degree is good or this one from Nature’s Path. However, if you make yourself, that’s even better 🙂
Add to a medium sized bowl and enjoy!
🌿 Turmeric + Black Pepper
Turmeric contains curcumin, a compound known for its potent anti-inflammatory and immune-supportive effects. Pairing it with black pepper increases its bioavailability by up to 2,000%, making it more effective. Try adding it to golden milk, smoothies, dressing/sauces, or roasted veggies for a healing dose of goodness.
🧄 Garlic and Ginger
Both garlic and ginger are powerful natural antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. Garlic supports immune cell activity and has antiviral properties, while ginger helps calm the digestive system, reduce congestion, and soothe inflammation throughout the body. Use them fresh in teas, stir-fries, soups, or wellness shots.
🍊Citrus Fruits (oranges, lemons, grapefruits)
Packed with vitamin C, citrus fruits are immune system heroes. Vitamin C helps reduce histamine levels, supports white blood cell function, and protects against inflammation. Squeeze lemon into warm water in the morning, snack on oranges, or add citrus to salads and dressings for a refreshing immunity lift.

When you support your body’s natural processes and healing—through nutrition, cleansing, rest, and stress management—you allow your immune system to calm down and function the way it was designed to.
Your body knows how to heal… it just needs the right tools and environment to do it. This includes reducing or ridding yourself of allergies all together.
Peace, love, and healing vibes! ✌🏻❤️🌱
